Photo Camp

National Geographic Museum / Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

Photo Camp is an ongoing educational program that pairs world-class National Geographic photographers with young members of underserved communities around the world. The program empowers students as photographers to tell their stories and inspires the next generation of photojournalists.

In partnership with The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the design team at National Geographic developed an exhibit to showcase the work of Photo Camp participants from around the world. The exhibition coincided with events and programming leading up to World Refugee Day.

I lead the design and placement of a series of nine temporary gallery structures that transformed the massive Hall of States and Hall of Nations at The Kennedy Center into a meandering photo gallery. These structures were designed to be elegant, but also simple and evocative of the temporary dwellings often found in refugee settlements.
