Tomb of Christ: The Church of theHoly Sepulchre Experience
National Geographic Museum
This media experience showcased the work of archeologists and conservators that spent a year documenting and restoring the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The core experience consisted of three media galleries that tell the story of the site’s history and importance today. At the center of these was a panoramic 3-D media presentation built from actual LIDAR scans of the church itself.
To manage visitor traffic through the pulsed media galleries and to provide additional critical interpretation, the in-house exhibit team created a supplemental exhibit gallery that included deeper perspectives on the restoration team’s process, technological tools, and discoveries.
As Exhibit Development Manager, I coordinated with media contractors and led the physical and spatial design of the supplemental gallery. I also worked side by side with the fabrication and installation team to complete the project.
The exhibition featured 1:1 scale graphic representations of the holy site contrasting it massive historical and religious significance with its physical size as well as interactive stations interpreting the technological tools NGS researchers used in their investigation.
